Afghan ambassador meets Turkish deputy foreign minister to boost bilateral ties

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Acting Ambassador to Türkiye, Mohammad Zubair Wadan, held a high-level meeting with Saadeddin Ayildiz, Deputy for South Asian Affairs at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss deepening cooperation between the two nations.
During the meeting, Ambassador Wadan emphasized the need to enhance diplomatic engagement and called for swift action on key bilateral concerns. He particularly highlighted the urgent need for the transfer of Afghan prisoners currently detained in Turkish facilities and the simplification of visa procedures for Afghan citizens wishing to travel to Türkiye.
The two sides also explored the creation of a bilateral joint commission to expand collaboration in areas including trade, transit, and cultural exchange. Wadan expressed the Islamic Emirate’s readiness to foster strong state-to-state cooperation based on mutual interests and regional stability.
Deputy Minister Ayildiz responded positively, expressing Türkiye’s commitment to expanding ties with Afghanistan. He assured that Ankara will actively work to facilitate prisoner transfers, ease visa processes, and advance the formation of the proposed joint commission to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors.
The meeting marks a constructive step in Afghanistan–Türkiye relations under the framework of diplomatic normalization and regional engagement, as both sides seek to build on longstanding cultural and historical ties. (ILKHA)
