Erdoğan calls for lifting EU sanctions on Syria

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with French President Emmanuel Macron today, focusing on bilateral relations and a range of regional and global issues.
During the call, Erdoğan emphasized that increased dialogue between Türkiye and France would foster stronger ties and highlighted the potential for cooperation in several fields, notably within the defense industry.
Addressing the economic and political dimensions of the conversation, Erdoğan noted that the suspension of European Union sanctions against Syria is a welcome development. He stressed the importance of completely lifting these sanctions in the near future and reiterated Türkiye’s steadfast support for Syria.
In addition, Erdoğan underscored the urgent need to preserve the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel and to work toward a permanent resolution of the conflict in the region.
