Erdoğan meets Syrian President Al-Sharaa at Antalya Diplomacy Forum

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a landmark meeting with President Ahmad Al-Sharaa of the Syrian Arab Republic on the sidelines of the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
The two leaders discussed bilateral ties, regional dynamics, and global developments, with both sides expressing a commitment to restoring peace and prosperity in Syria and strengthening cooperation.
During the meeting, President Erdoğan expressed satisfaction that actors seeking to reignite instability and chaos in Syria have not been given room to act, noting that the upcoming years will be marked by “stability, prosperity, and peace” for the Syrian people.
Erdoğan reiterated Türkiye’s support for Syria’s reconstruction and political stabilization. He also affirmed that Ankara would continue its diplomatic efforts to lift international sanctions imposed on Syria and emphasized the urgency of revitalizing economic and commercial cooperation.
The Turkish President noted that, in addition to trade, joint steps in other fields may be explored in the near future to deepen engagement.
Underscoring a consistent policy of solidarity, Erdoğan stressed that Türkiye will maintain its support for Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and long-term stabilization, in line with its regional vision for security and cooperation.
The meeting comes amid a shifting regional landscape, with Ankara playing an increasingly active role in reconciliation efforts across the Middle East. (ILKHA)
