Erdoğan outlines economic reforms at AK Party congress in Malatya

Turkish President and Justice and Development (AK) Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the party’s 8th Ordinary Provincial Congress in Malatya, addressing key issues such as economic reform, investments, and recent tragedies.
President Erdoğan emphasized the government's efforts to combat inflation and stabilize the economy, noting progress in implementing an economic program aimed at addressing current challenges.
“We have started to gradually reap the fruits of our economic program. We are determinedly implementing the formulas that will lower inflation, which we see as the main cause of the current challenges in the economy,” Erdoğan said.
He stressed the importance of boosting production, employment, and exports to achieve sustainable economic growth, stating: “We cannot protect and improve employment and exports without production.”
Recalling the tragic hotel fire at the Bolu Kartalkaya ski resort, Erdoğan extended his condolences to the families of the 78 victims who lost their lives, expressing hope for Allah’s mercy upon them. He vowed accountability, stating that those responsible for the disaster would be brought to justice.
Highlighting the government’s contributions to Malatya over the past 22 years, Erdoğan announced investments totaling ₺511 billion across various sectors.
“We have introduced projects and services worth ₺5 billion in justice, ₺33 billion in education, ₺6.7 billion in youth and sports, ₺58 billion in social aid, ₺13 billion in healthcare, ₺186 billion in environment and urbanization, with ongoing investments worth ₺209 billion, ₺92 billion in transportation, ₺51 billion in agriculture and forestry, ₺25 billion in industry and technology, ₺30 billion in energy, ₺3 billion in culture and tourism, and ₺8 billion in labor and social security, including incentives,” he stated.
Key accomplishments include the construction of 10,000-bed higher education dormitories, a stadium, and 78 sports facilities. In healthcare, 75 healthcare facilities, including 16 hospitals with a total bed capacity of 1,827, have been established. Erdoğan also announced plans to upgrade Malatya Training and Research Hospital into a city hospital with additional facilities.
Erdoğan reiterated his government’s commitment to strengthening Malatya’s infrastructure, ensuring economic growth, and delivering essential services to the region. “We will continue to support Malatya and its citizens with ongoing investments and projects,” he concluded.
