Erdogan to visit Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman to strengthen Gulf ties

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to embark on an official tour of Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman from October 21 to 23, aiming to review bilateral relations and enhance cooperation across defense, energy, and investment sectors.
In a statement, Communications Director Burhanettin Duran confirmed that Türkiye's upcoming visit to three countries will prioritize enhancing strategic ties with Gulf states, while discussing regional and global developments. He highlighted that the talks will cover ways to bolster current cooperation and identify new opportunities for bilateral partnerships. Multiple agreements are anticipated to be signed, further strengthening the legal foundations of Türkiye's relations with these nations.
President Erdogan will begin his tour in Kuwait, meeting with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. Key topics will include bilateral relations, economic ties, and the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Erdogan and the Emir are expected to discuss aid coordination for Gaza and support for maintaining the ceasefire in the region.
“Discussions will cover Gaza humanitarian conditions, aid coordination, and ceasefire process support,” Duran noted. Strengthening trade and investment opportunities between Türkiye and Kuwait will also feature prominently on the agenda.
Following the Kuwait visit, Erdogan will travel to Doha to meet Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Gaza is anticipated to be the central topic of discussion, with Türkiye and Qatar having already collaborated closely on humanitarian assistance, ceasefire efforts, and the planning of an international task force for Gaza.
Erdogan visited Qatar in September to attend the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League following an Israeli attack on Doha, highlighting the close diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The tour will conclude in Oman, where Erdogan will meet Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said. Discussions are expected to focus on economic cooperation, regional developments, and strategies to further strengthen Türkiye-Oman relations.
The upcoming Gulf tour underscores Türkiye’s active diplomatic engagement in the region and its commitment to humanitarian and political efforts, particularly regarding the ongoing crisis in Gaza. (ILKHA)
