Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed the media in Istanbul before departing for Malaysia, where he sharply criticized the new U.S. administration's proposals on Gaza, noting they were formulated under the influence of the "Zionist regime."
In his speech, Erdogan stated: "From our perspective, there is nothing worth talking about the proposals brought up by the new US administration concerning Gaza under the pressure of the Zionist regime." He lauded Hamas for adhering to its commitments in the ongoing prisoner and detainee exchange, saying, "Despite Israel's tricks, the exchange of prisoners and detainees continues. We are pleased to observe that Hamas has remained true to its word."
Erdogan also expressed concerns over Israel's intentions, emphasizing: "Unfortunately, we see that the Israeli administration has more sinister and inhumane plans in mind instead of rendering the ceasefire permanent."
He emphasized the rights of Palestinians, declaring: "No one has the power to force the people of Gaza out of their eternal and everlasting homeland that they have inhabited for thousands of years. With its Gaza, West Bank, and East al-Quds, Palestine belongs to the Palestinians."
President Erdogan's remarks come at a time when international efforts to mediate the conflict in Gaza continue, amidst ongoing tensions and negotiations. (ILKHA)
