Earthquake strikes Aegean Sea, felt in İzmir and Aydın

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Aegean Sea at 10:05 PM local time, causing noticeable tremors in the nearby Turkish cities of İzmir and Aydın.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) confirmed that the earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 7 kilometers, which contributed to the intensity of the shaking felt on land.
Eleven minutes after the initial shock, another earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 was recorded, further escalating concerns in the region.
Residents in İzmir and Aydın reported brief moments of panic as buildings shook, though no immediate damage or injuries have been reported. Local authorities are on alert, monitoring the situation closely for any aftershocks or potential damage assessments.
This event continues a series of seismic activities in the Aegean Sea, which has been experiencing an 'earthquake storm', raising concerns about geological stability in this seismically active region. (ILKHA)
