Hamas chief negotiator discusses ceasefire efforts with Turkish intelligence head

Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas’s chief negotiator and head of the movement in Gaza, held a phone conversation with Ibrahim Kalin, head of Türkiye’s intelligence agency, on Sunday to discuss ongoing ceasefire talks and recent developments in the Palestinian arena.
In a statement released by Hamas, al-Hayya outlined the movement’s position regarding the latest ceasefire proposal put forth by US envoy Steve Witkoff. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive ceasefire, the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid, and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
Al-Hayya also updated Kalin on Hamas’s recent political contacts and ongoing efforts aimed at securing a ceasefire in the region.
During the call, the Hamas leader condemned the continued Israeli military actions in Gaza, highlighting the recent massacre targeting aid seekers in Rafah on Sunday.
Responding to the concerns, Ibrahim Kalin reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to intensify its diplomatic efforts to achieve a full ceasefire and to end the blockade and starvation campaign imposed on Gaza. (ILKHA
