Hamas leadership meets Turkish Foreign Minister and Intelligence Chief in Doha

Senior figures from the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas held a high-level meeting in Doha with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Chief İbrahim Kalın, diplomatic sources confirmed on Tuesday.
The meeting brought together Mohammed Ismail Darwish, chairman of the Hamas Shura Council, along with members of the movement’s political bureau based in Qatar. While officials have not disclosed the detailed content of the discussions, sources said the talks centered on the ongoing ceasefire in Gaza, regional diplomatic efforts, and the humanitarian situation in the besieged enclave.
The meeting coincided with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s official visit to Qatar, part of a broader Gulf tour that began in Kuwait and will conclude in Oman. The tour aims to strengthen regional partnerships, enhance economic and energy cooperation, and coordinate political stances on pressing regional issues, particularly the situation in Palestine.
Türkiye has maintained active communication with both Palestinian resistance factions and regional mediators, including Qatar and Egypt, in an effort to consolidate the Gaza ceasefire and ensure sustained humanitarian access to the territory.
In a related development, Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas in Gaza and leader of its negotiating delegation, reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to upholding the ceasefire agreement reached through mediation led by Egypt and supported by the international community.
Speaking in an interview with Cairo News, al-Hayya praised the steadfastness of the Palestinian people amid immense suffering.
“We and all the Palestinian factions are fully committed because we see hope in this agreement,” he said. “It marks the end of the war and a return to peace for our people, like other nations. We are determined to pursue this agreement to the very end.”
Observers noted that Türkiye’s continued engagement with Hamas leadership underscores Ankara’s diplomatic role as a key mediator and supporter of Palestinian rights, while Doha remains a vital hub for coordination among international actors seeking to secure long-term stability in Gaza. (ILKHA)
