HÜDA PAR Chairman pays tribute to earthquake victims on second anniversary
On the second anniversary of the devastating earthquakes that struck southern Türkiye on February 6, 2023, HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu visited the earthquake victims' cemetery to pay tribute to the thousands of lives lost in the tragedy.
During his visit, Yapıcıoğlu expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the affected families, emphasizing that the pain of the disaster remains fresh. He offered condolences to the relatives of those who perished and shared his reflections on social media.
"We visited the Antakya Earthquake Martyrs Cemetery. In this graveyard alone, nearly four thousand tombstones bear the date 06.02.2023. The pain is immense and still fresh. May Allah not let such a tragedy happen again. May God have mercy on all martyrs, and I wish patience to their families," Yapıcıoğlu wrote.
The HÜDA PAR leader has been actively involved with the survivors and community members in the disaster-stricken areas, reinforcing his commitment to their support. His visit was not only a tribute to the deceased but also a spotlight on the ongoing challenges faced by those affected, many of whom lost family members, homes, and sources of income.
The earthquakes, centered in Kahramanmaraş and affecting regions like Hatay, Gaziantep, and Malatya, resulted in over 50,000 deaths, marking one of the deadliest natural disasters in Türkiye's history. Despite two years having passed, the process of rebuilding lives and infrastructure continues, with deep emotional scars still healing among the populace.
Yapıcıoğlu's presence at the cemetery underscored the need for continued remembrance and support, reminding the nation of the enduring impact of the disaster and the importance of collective efforts in recovery and rebuilding. (ILKHA)
