HÜDA PAR MP Şahzade Demir criticizes CHP’s boycott call against local brands

HÜDA PAR Gaziantep MP Şahzade Demir has strongly criticized the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) over its recent call to boycott local brands, arguing that such actions are detrimental to both the party and the country.
In a statement on X, Demir asserted that CHP’s move demonstrates its detachment from the nation’s interests. “CHP’s boycott call for domestic brands is quite meaningful. This call, made by the CHP, which claims to be the founding party of the Republic, clearly proves that it is not local at all,” he stated.
Demir further suggested that the opposition party's actions could be linked to its inability to accept the widespread boycott of brands supporting Zionist interests. “This status quoist party, which has never been able to digest the boycott of brands that support the Zionists, is perhaps trying to take revenge for the boycott of Israeli goods with this boycott call against domestic brands,” he added.
He warned that such boycott calls and street demonstrations leading to violence and vandalism would not serve the interests of CHP or Türkiye. “Everyone can react to the ongoing legal process against the Istanbul Municipality. But these reactions should also be in accordance with the law. Calls for a boycott of local brands and street protests that generate violence and vandalism will not bring anything to the CHP or the country. On the contrary, it will make everyone lose. CHP will lose the most.”
The remarks come amid heightened political tensions following legal proceedings against Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, which have sparked widespread protests and reactions from opposition groups. CHP’s boycott call has drawn criticism from various quarters, with opponents arguing that it could harm Türkiye’s economy and deepen political polarization. (ILKHA)
