HÜDA PAR urges disaster zone declaration for frost-hit Turkish provinces

HÜDA PAR Deputy Chairman and Gaziantep MP Şahzade Demir has called for immediate government action to address severe agricultural losses in southeastern Türkiye caused by extreme frost and drought conditions.
In a speech at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Demir described the devastating impact on farmers, livestock breeders, and rural communities in Mardin, Şırnak, Diyarbakır, and Şanlıurfa. "This year has been exceptionally challenging for our farmers and villagers," he said, noting that frost has caused total crop failure in these regions, with drought posing an ongoing threat.
Demir urged the government to declare the affected provinces disaster zones and provide rapid compensation to those impacted. "There is currently no harvest in these areas," he emphasized, calling for urgent measures to support rural livelihoods.
Agricultural unions and local officials have echoed these concerns, warning of long-term economic consequences without intervention. Farmers are seeking state support, including financial aid, debt relief, and emergency water resources.
HUDA PAR has called for cross-party support to ensure a comprehensive response to protect the region’s agricultural sector, a vital part of Türkiye’s economy. (ILKHA)
