Hundreds of thousands gather in Diyarbakır for Mawlid Al Nabi celebration

The Prophet’s Lovers Foundation successfully concluded its monumental annual Mawlid Al Nabi celebration in Diyarbakır, drawing an immense crowd of hundreds of thousands from all walks of life under this year’s stirring theme: “Resistance Leader Prophet Muhammad.”
The event, which took place at the expansive Nevruz Park Rally Area, became a spiritual and political rallying point, uniting people in love for the Prophet and solidarity with the oppressed, especially the people of Gaza.
This year’s Mawlid Al Nabi gathering, held under tight security and meticulous planning, was part of the Foundation’s broader campaign entitled “Understanding the Prophet and Living His Sunnah.” It featured a range of programmatic elements that highlighted the central role of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a model of resistance against tyranny, injustice, and oppression.
A Sea of Devotion and Resistance
From early morning hours, buses arranged by the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation brought thousands of attendees from Diyarbakır’s central districts and surrounding provinces. Overflowing enthusiasm led many to abandon vehicles outside the congested roads and walk kilometers to reach the venue.
The crowd—men, women, children, scholars, students, and elders—waved Tawhid and Palestinian flags and held banners with messages expressing deep love for the Prophet and solidarity with Gaza. In a display of organizational discipline, separate entrances were established for men and women, and multiple checkpoints ensured the security of all participants.
In the massive field, two main platforms were set up: one for speeches and religious presentations, the other reserved for local and international guests, including religious scholars, political leaders, and representatives of civil society.
Visuals of Resistance: Gaza and Local Martyrs Honored
One of the defining features of the rally was the vivid visual representation of the global resistance movement. Large banners and posters bearing the images of iconic Palestinian resistance leaders such as Muhammad Deif, Ismail Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar, and Abu Hamza decorated the area. Equally moving were the portraits of local martyrs like Yasin Börü and his companions, murdered in the PKK/HDP-instigated violence of October 6-7, 2014.
These images served not only as commemorations of martyrdom but also as symbols of a continuing, sacred resistance—linking the struggles of Palestinians with the legacy of defiant faith in Turkey’s Kurdish heartland.
A Program of Spirituality and Empowerment
Hosted by Emin Gülsever and Fatih Taş, the program began with a profound recitation of the Holy Qur’an by the internationally renowned Qari Sangar Sayın from Iraqi Kurdistan. This was followed by the soul-stirring mawlid-i sharif and performances of Islamic hymns and melodies by singers from the Özlem Agency.
Then came the reading of this year’s message from the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation. Delivered by Board Member Ömer Çelik, the message focused on current global events and emphasized that “the only answer to relentless and disproportionate war is a blessed resistance.”
The statement stressed that the suffering in Gaza, Palestine, and Syria would not be relieved through silence or compromise, but only through active and steadfast resistance in the path of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
HAMAS MP Marwan Abu Ras Delivers Passionate Call
A particularly emotional moment came when HAMAS MP and scholar Marwan Abu Ras, head of the Palestine Commission of the World Union of Scholars, took to the stage. Introduced with mention of the dozens of family members he lost in Zionist attacks, Abu Ras made a thunderous appeal to the Muslim world:
“Al-Aqsa is calling you! The mosques of Gaza, the children and their blood-stained books, the displaced mothers, and the broken schools—are entrusted to you!”
He urged the Islamic world to not only pray for but also materially and politically support the Al-Qassam Brigades and the Palestinian resistance. Abu Ras emphasized that the mujahideen will never lay down their arms and will continue to fight until liberation is achieved.
Göktaş: “This Square is Al Qassam, This Square is Hamas”
The climax of the event came with a rousing speech by Mehmet Göktaş, the honorary president of the Prophet’s Lovers Foundation. He proclaimed:
“Those who say HAMAS is finished, come and see! This square is HAMAS! This square is Al Qassam!”
Göktaş underscored the symbolic and spiritual value of Gaza, stating that one's love and concern for Gaza is a measure of one’s standing before Allah and His Messenger. He described the youth of Diyarbakır as an unbreakable wall against the forces that attempt to secularize and corrupt Islamic societies.
He also remarked on the growing spread of Islam worldwide, revealing that despite Zionist aggression, a spiritual revolution is taking place:
“We have 50–60 thousand martyrs, yes—but not in vain! In Europe alone, 649,000 people have embraced Islam in the last period. With this momentum, Zionism, the U.S., and the corrupt values of Europe will collapse. The Kassam Brigades have ripped off their devilish masks.”
Final Prayers and Farewell
The historic event concluded with an emotional and collective prayer led by Mullah Recai Güler, a distinguished member of ITTIHADUL ULEMA. As the sun set over Diyarbakır, hundreds of thousands stood in unity, their hands raised to the heavens, pledging unwavering commitment to the Prophet’s path and resistance against all forms of oppression.
The Mawlid Al Nabi celebration in Diyarbakır not only honored the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) but also became a resounding declaration of global Islamic solidarity and resistance. In a world gripped by injustice and war, this gathering offered a vision of hope rooted in faith, unity, and prophetic struggle. (ILKHA)
