613 people, including women and children, who were murdered by Armenia in the Khojaly city of the Upper Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, were once again remembered.

A total of 613 Azerbaijani citizens were killed by the Armenian armed forces on February 26, 1992, in the attack on Khojaly city in Azerbaijan's Upper Karabakh region, of which 106 were women, 63 were children and 70 were elderly.

In Armenia's attack on Nagorno-Karabakh, 76 children, 487 people were injured and 275 people were taken as prisoners. The fate of 150 missing since that date is unknown.

After this attack on the civilian population, twenty percent of Azerbaijani territory was occupied by Armenia. The number of Azerbaijani, who had to leave their homeland close to one million.

The population living in Khojaly consisted of Azerbaijan and Azov Muslims. The cause of the massacre was to evacuate the Karabakh region.

After 26 years later, some countries have accepted this massacre as genocide. Countries such as Indonesia, Czech Republic, Mexico, Colombia, and Pakistan recognized the Khojaly massacre as genocide, but the international community continued to remain silent. (ILKHA)
