Laylat al-Raghaib: Muslims worldwide prepare for the sacred night of wishes
In an anticipated global observance, Muslims around the world are preparing to mark Laylat al-Raghaib, also known as Regaip Kandili, on Thursday night.
This sacred night, known as the Night of Wishes, holds great significance in Islamic tradition.
Derived from the root "ra-gha-ba," which signifies "to desire" or "to tend toward," Laylat al-Raghaib marks the beginning of the celebration on the night preceding the first Friday of the month of Rajab, the seventh month in the Islamic calendar.
Believed to be a time when Allah bestows His mercy, blessings, and assistance upon people, Laylat al-Raghaib holds special importance.
According to Islamic teachings, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) observed a commendable rite on this night, involving a special prayer formula.
Devotees are encouraged to engage in Quranic recitation during Laylat al-Raghaib, coupled with acts of repentance (Tawba) and seeking forgiveness.
The occasion also emphasizes the performance of dua (supplication) and expressing gratitude for the blessings bestowed by Allah the Almighty.
As Muslims globally come together in spiritual observance, Laylat al-Raghaib serves as a significant moment for reflection, prayer, and seeking divine favor.
This annual celebration underscores the unity of the Islamic community in embracing faith, tradition, and a shared commitment to spiritual growth. (ILKHA)
