HÜDA PAR (Free Cause Party) is pushing for legislation that would allow prosecution in Türkiye of dual citizens involved in "genocide crimes" and "crimes against humanity" committed in Gaza.
The party's chairman, Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu, submitted a bill to parliament on December 28th, 2023. The legislation aims to streamline trials for such offenses and enable the stripping of citizenship and asset seizure for those who flee prosecution.
HÜDA PAR launched a signature campaign on Change.org to garner public support for the bill's passage. The campaign emphasizes the importance of the legislation for "saving human dignity."
The party is urging parliament to consider the bill before its summer break on July 31st, expressing concern about potential delays until November or December. (ILKHA)
