Thousands condemn Gaza atrocities in New Year's day march on Galata Bridge

Thousands of people gathered on Galata Bridge in Istanbul to protest against the israeli attacks on Gaza Strip.
The event, named “Mercy for our Martyrs, Support for Palestine, Curse on Israel,” was organized by TÜGVA and involved 308 NGOs in the National Will Platform. The participants marched in a procession after morning prayer.
The event was held to condemn the genocide that has been taking place in front of the world’s eyes since October 7th. Türkiye has been the voice of the Palestinians from the very beginning.
The event was a historic march where both PKK attacks and israeli oppression were condemned. The platforms of the Galata Bridge were adorned with tags that read “ForFairFuture”, large screens were set up, and columns were placed for the sound system.
Many local and foreign journalists followed the program from the press platform created at the Karaköy exit of the bridge.
In a symbolic gesture, participants illuminated the surroundings by turning on the lights of their mobile phones, contributing to the impactful atmosphere of the gathering. The New Year's Day assembly served as a poignant demonstration of solidarity and condemnation against the ongoing injustices in Gaza.
This event was a powerful message sent from Türkiye to the world, and it will be remembered as a significant moment in history. (ILKHA)
