Hope Caravan extends lifeline to abandoned mother and her children in Mardin

The Hope Caravan Foundation has provided critical support to Şirin Koçyiğit and her three children, who were left in dire straits after being abandoned by her husband in Mardin’s Artuklu district.
Struggling with extreme poverty, the family had been without electricity for over 10 days due to unpaid utility bills, compounding their hardships.
Following a report by Ilke News Agency, the Mardin branch of Hope Caravan acted swiftly, delivering essential household appliances to replace broken items, thanks to the generosity of philanthropists. The foundation’s president, Abdulaziz Önen, personally visited the family in the Kotek neighborhood, describing their dilapidated living conditions and urgent needs.
“The family is in a severely victimized situation,” Önen said. “The mother is struggling alone with her three young children in a rented, rundown home, living in darkness due to unpaid electricity debts.” He criticized the lack of official intervention, calling it “deep insensitivity” and urging authorities to act immediately to restore the family’s electricity and meet their needs.
Hope Caravan pledged ongoing support and called on benefactors and the public to rally behind the Koçyiğit family. The foundation’s efforts highlight its vital role in supporting impoverished families across Türkiye through compassion and solidarity. (ILKHA)
