The Turkish Ministry of Defense has announced that 19 members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were killed in air operations conducted in northern Iraq.
The statement released by the ministry detailed that the strikes targeted PKK positions in the Gara, Hakurk, and Qandil regions. A total of 10 PKK members were killed in Gara, 6 in Hakurk, and 3 in Qandil during the operations carried out on September 7, 8, and 9, 2024.
The Turkish military has been conducting operations against the PKK in northern Iraq for several years. The PKK is a designated terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States, and the European Union. (ILKHA)
