The Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced on Wednesday that 24 targets, including caves, shelters, and warehouses, used by terrorist groups in northern Iraq were destroyed in airstrikes.
The air operation, conducted on September 18, 2024, targeted terrorist strongholds in the Hakurk, Gara, Kandil, and Asos regions, areas frequently used by the PKK/KCK and other armed groups. The Ministry stated that the strikes were carried out under Turkey’s right to self-defense as outlined in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
"The operation aimed to eliminate terrorist threats against our people and security forces from northern Iraq and to ensure our border security," the Ministry said in its statement.
The strikes targeted 24 key locations believed to be used by high-ranking PKK members, including caves, shelters, and ammunition depots. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to neutralizing terrorist threats and ensuring the safety of Türkiye's borders. (ILKHA)
