Türkiye and Azerbaijan strengthen cooperation in livestock and animal health

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye and the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan signed a "Declaration of Intent on Strengthening Cooperation in the Field of Livestock and Animal Health."
The agreement, signed during a meeting between Turkish Minister İbrahim Yumaklı and Azerbaijani Minister Majnun Mammadov, aims to foster collaboration in various areas of agricultural production.
Key points of the declaration include the establishment of working groups for animal health, exploration of opportunities for broader cooperation across Turkic states, and knowledge sharing in areas such as agricultural insurance, land consolidation, and climate-resilient seed development.
Both ministers emphasized the importance of food security and pledged continued collaboration. Azerbaijan's Minister Mammadov highlighted the role of Turkish investment in agriculture and animal husbandry in the liberated territories, which aims to bring meat products from Karabakh to the global market.
The declaration also paves the way for establishing free zones in Azerbaijan, particularly in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, to facilitate animal husbandry activities. Azerbaijan plans to leverage Türkiye's experience with its TARSIM agricultural insurance model to build a competitive agricultural sector in Karabakh.
This agreement marks a significant step forward in strengthening agricultural ties between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, with potential benefits for food security, investment, and regional development. (ILKHA)
