The Turkish Coast Guard rescued 70 irregular migrants, including 23 children, in operations off the coast of Muğla and İzmir on Monday.
According to a statement released by the Coast Guard Command, the migrants were pushed back by Greek forces and were in danger of drowning. The rescue teams safely brought the migrants to shore.
In addition to the rescue operation, the Coast Guard also apprehended 151 irregular migrants in the same region. Three suspected human traffickers were detained in Marmaris and Bodrum in connection with the smuggling activities.
The rescued migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing. (ILKHA)
