Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to attend EU ministers’ meeting in Warsaw

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today that Hakan Fidan, Türkiye’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, will travel to Warsaw on 8 May to participate in a session held on the margins of the Informal Meeting of EU Foreign Affairs Ministers, commonly known as the “Gymnich” format.
In a press release, the Ministry highlighted that Minister Fidan’s attendance underscores Türkiye’s ongoing engagement with European partners on key regional and global issues. The Gymnich gathering convenes EU foreign ministers in an informal setting to foster candid dialogue on security, migration, energy, and other pressing challenges.
During his visit, Minister Fidan is expected to hold bilateral talks with counterparts from EU member states, exchange views on developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, and contribute to discussions aimed at strengthening Turkey–EU cooperation. The Turkish delegation will also use the opportunity to advance dialogue on counterterrorism, climate action, and joint responses to geopolitical crises.
This marks the first Gymnich meeting attended by Türkiye’s top diplomat since the country formalized its cooperation framework with the European Union earlier this year. The Ministry affirmed that Fidan’s participation will help reinforce mutual understanding and explore avenues for practical collaboration between Türkiye and the EU. (ILKHA)
