The Turkish Ministry of National Defence announced on Wednesday, April 17th, that four militants affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were killed in northern Syria.
The Ministry made the announcement on its social media accounts, stating that the PKK/YPG terrorists were "neutralized" in the Euphrates Shield region.
"Neutralized" is a term frequently used by Turkish authorities to describe militants who are killed or captured during operations.
The Euphrates Shield region was the target of a Turkish cross-border military operation conducted between August 2016 and March 2017. The stated aim was to clear the area of both PKK and ISIS militants.
The PKK is considered a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States, and the European Union. The group has been engaged in an armed conflict with the Turkish government for decades. (ILKHA)
