The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Thursday congratulating Joseph Aoun on his election as the President of Lebanon.
"We congratulate Mr. Joseph Aoun on his election as President of Lebanon," the ministry stated.
The statement also expressed hope for Lebanon’s future, emphasizing the importance of stability and regional peace. "We hope that the new government to be formed in the coming period will contribute to the stability of Lebanon and the peace and prosperity of the region," it added.
Joseph Aoun, the commander of Lebanon's army, was elected president earlier in the day, ending a protracted political vacuum since the conclusion of Michel Aoun’s term in October 2022.
Türkiye has consistently voiced its support for Lebanon's sovereignty and stability, reiterating its commitment to fostering regional peace and cooperation. (ILKHA)
