Türkiye, Mongolia pledge stronger ties amid regional and global challenges

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh of Mongolia held a joint press conference at the Presidential Complex, announcing significant decisions aimed at enhancing bilateral relations.
The leaders signed a joint communique establishing a strategic partnership between Türkiye and Mongolia.
Speaking at the press conference, President Erdoğan emphasized the significance of the new partnership, stating: “Today, we, together with my treasured friend, have taken decisions aimed at enhancing our relations with Mongolia. We have just signed in the presence of you the joint communique for the establishment of strategic partnership. I hope this partnership will lead to auspicious outcomes for Central Asia, our fatherland, and the world.”
In addition to the joint communique, several agreements were signed in key areas such as education, environment, youth and sports, energy, and transportation. President Erdoğan noted that these agreements will “strengthen the contractual basis of our relations and improve our current cooperation.”
Highlighting the progress in economic ties, President Erdoğan announced that the two countries have already surpassed their initial trade target of $100 million. “However, we think that this figure is way behind our true potential,” he remarked, urging companies from both nations to pursue mutual investments and joint projects. The discussions also included measures to further increase bilateral trade, reinforcing the economic dimension of the partnership.
The leaders also addressed pressing regional and global challenges, including the situations in Syria, Palestine, and Ukraine. President Erdoğan underlined the importance of maintaining cooperation on international platforms and strengthening solidarity within global and regional institutions, particularly the United Nations.
The newly established partnership between Türkiye and Mongolia is expected to foster closer ties not only between the two countries but also in the broader context of Central Asia. As President Erdoğan concluded, “This partnership will lead to auspicious outcomes for Central Asia, our fatherland, and the world.”
The series of agreements and the strategic partnership mark a new chapter in Türkye-Mongolia relations, with both leaders expressing optimism about the future of bilateral cooperation. (ILKHA)
