Türkiye reaffirms support for just peace in Ukraine-Russia war

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during which the two leaders discussed bilateral relations, the Ukraine-Russia conflict, and broader regional and global issues, according to a statement from the Turkish Presidency.
Erdoğan emphasized that Türkiye is closely following the recent peace-related talks in Alaska and Washington, reaffirming Ankara’s commitment to contribute to efforts aimed at ending the war with a “lasting and just peace.”
He underlined that negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow should continue in an “intensified manner” and reiterated Türkiye’s readiness to facilitate high-level meetings that could pave the way for concrete progress.
Highlighting Türkiye’s continued support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and security, Erdoğan said Ankara would maintain its contributions once peace is established.
During the call, Erdoğan also congratulated President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, expressing solidarity with Kyiv amid the ongoing conflict. (ILKHA)
