Türkiye rejects false claims linking Turkish Technic to Air India plane crash

Türkiye’s Centre for Combating Disinformation, under the Directorate of Communications, has debunked claims that Turkish Technic performed maintenance on the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner involved in a recent Air India passenger aircraft crash during takeoff.
The center labeled the allegations as “false” and part of a disinformation campaign aimed at straining Türkiye-India relations.
In a statement released today, the center clarified that maintenance agreements between Air India and Turkish Technic, signed in 2024 and 2025, cover only B777-type wide-body aircraft. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner involved in the incident is not included in these agreements, and Turkish Technic has never conducted maintenance on Air India aircraft of this type.
While the center noted it is aware of the company responsible for the aircraft’s most recent maintenance, it refrained from disclosing details to avoid fueling speculation. The statement underscored the center’s commitment to countering efforts that target the reputation of Türkiye’s flagship brands on the global stage.
Expressing solidarity, the center added: “As the people of Türkiye, we sincerely share the grief of the Indian people over this tragic plane crash.”
The Centre for Combating Disinformation vowed to continue monitoring and addressing attempts to spread misleading information. (ILKHA)
