Army personnel have discovered and dismantled an illegal drug laboratory in western Afghanistan's Ghor province, the military confirmed in a statement on Thursday.
Acting on intelligence, forces of the Islamic army conducted a raid in Sia Sangak village of Dawlatyar district on Wednesday. During the operation, they uncovered and destroyed the illicit drug lab, the statement said.
Approximately 300 kilograms of illegal drugs, along with equipment used in heroin production, were seized and set on fire during the raid. However, the statement did not confirm whether any arrests were made.
The operation follows a similar crackdown in central Bamiyan province just days ago, where security forces destroyed 10.5 tons of illegal drugs.
Authorities continue their efforts to curb drug production and trafficking in the region. (ILKHA)
