Fawzi Barhum, a senior leader and spokesperson for HAMAS, addressed a massive pro-Palestine rally in Diyarbakır, declaring that the recent success of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood marked a significant victory for the entire Muslim world.
The event was held as part of Al Quds Global Week and brought together prominent Islamic organizations, scholars, and members of the community. Barhum delivered an impassioned speech that highlighted the resilience of the Palestinian resistance and emphasized the importance of unity in confronting occupation.
The rally, organized by ITTIHADUL ULEMA, Islamic Non-Governmental Organizations, the Madrasa Scholars Foundation, Prophet’s Lovers Foundation, Suffe Education and Solidarity Association, and the Free Jerusalem Platform, showcased the steadfast support of the Turkish people for the Palestinian cause. Participants marched with flags and banners, underscoring their deep solidarity with the struggle for Jerusalem and the liberation of Palestine.
"Victory Through Unity and Faith"
Barhum, who spoke on behalf of the Palestinian people and the Al Qassam Brigades, began his address by extending warm greetings from the people of Gaza and the leadership of HAMAS, including Commander Muhammad Deif and Al Qassam spokesman Abu Obeida. “Your voices of support have echoed in Gaza, reaching the hearts of the mujahideen and boosting their morale. Diyarbakir, you are not just supporters—you are part of this victory,” he proclaimed to the cheering crowd.
He described the October 7 operation, known as Operation Al Aqsa Flood, as a pivotal moment in the Palestinian resistance. “This operation was carried out by the finest mujahideen, those who dedicated themselves to defending our land. By Allah’s permission, we struck the occupiers from the air, land, sea, and underground. Within three hours, we took hundreds of Israeli soldiers as captives, destroyed their tanks, and captured territories. This was not merely a military victory; it was a testament to the power of faith and perseverance,” Barhum said.
"Defying Superpowers: The Resilience of the Resistance"
Barhum highlighted the challenges faced by HAMAS and the Palestinian people, particularly the decades of oppression and siege imposed by Israel, with support from global powers. “For 76 years, the Zionist regime has been preparing to crush us, with unwavering support from European countries and America. They sought to isolate HAMAS, to break our spirit. But we, as mujahideen, stood firm. In the words of our martyr leader Ismail Haniyeh, we declared, ‘We will not recognize Israel,’” he affirmed.
The spokesperson emphasized that the resistance did not falter, even in the face of overwhelming military power. “The world’s superpowers, with their tanks and warplanes, tried to save the wrecked Israeli regime. But, by Allah’s will, they could not harm the mujahideen of Gaza. The victory of the resistance is proof that even the mightiest forces can be defeated when faith and justice are on our side,” Barhum said.
"A Victory for the Entire Ummah"
Barhum dedicated the victory achieved through Operation Al Aqsa Flood to the entire Muslim ummah. “This victory is not just for the people of Gaza or Palestine. It is your victory too—Diyarbakir, Türkiye, and the entire Muslim world. By filling this square, by lending your voices and prayers, you stood with us in the trenches of Gaza. This bond between us is unbreakable,” he said.
He also noted that the operation had altered global perceptions of the Israeli occupation. “For years, the Zionists claimed to be victims. But after October 7, the world saw their true face. It became clear that they are the aggressors, the criminals. The world now knows that Palestine belongs to Palestinians, Gaza belongs to Gazans, and Jerusalem is the rightful home of Muslims,” Barhum declared to thunderous applause.
"Preparing for the Great Jihad Ahead"
Despite the ceasefire, Barhum warned that the struggle is far from over. He called on the crowd to prepare for the next phase of resistance, which he described as a “great jihad” for the complete liberation of Palestine. “We may have a victory, but let us not forget the price we paid: 100,000 tonnes of bombs dropped on Gaza, 50,000 martyrs, 120,000 wounded, and 200,000 homes destroyed. This war is not over. The Kassam Brigades and the people of Palestine are strong, but we must be ready for what comes next,” he said.
He appealed to all segments of society—youth, scholars, teachers, and media—to join the effort. “Prepare yourselves for the great jihad ahead of us. Together, we will march towards Al Aqsa and Jerusalem. There will be no walls or borders to stop us. Inshallah, Palestine will be completely liberated,” Barhum said with conviction.
A Day of Solidarity and Prayer
The event concluded with an emotional prayer led by Molla Hüseyin Inci, who invoked blessings for the martyrs and strength for the ongoing struggle. The gathering in Diyarbakir served as a powerful reminder of the unity and determination of the Muslim ummah to stand with Palestine in its fight for freedom and justice.
The march in Diyarbakir highlighted the profound connection between the people of Türkiye and the Palestinian cause, signaling a continued commitment to solidarity and resistance in the face of oppression. (ILKHA)
