Afghanistan signs $2.2M aid deal to support returnees and displaced families

The Afghan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a domestic aid agency to expand humanitarian assistance for returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and vulnerable families across Afghanistan, the ministry announced in a statement released late Tuesday.
Valued at over $2.2 million USD, the agreement aims to provide critical support in 30 of the country’s 34 provinces. According to the ministry, the partnering organization will deliver a combination of cash assistance, legal advisory services, and child-focused support, targeting families most affected by poverty, displacement, and instability.
This latest initiative builds on a series of recent aid agreements. Just last week, the ministry signed three additional MoUs with leading humanitarian organizations to assist 285,529 individuals and 2,400 families across 28 provinces, underscoring the government’s ongoing efforts to address the needs of vulnerable populations.
The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation emphasized that such agreements are crucial to mitigating the economic and social consequences of displacement and return migration. It called on both local and international organizations to intensify their investments in humanitarian relief, community development, and job creation, in order to help stabilize communities and rebuild livelihoods throughout the country.
As Afghanistan continues to face widespread poverty, food insecurity, and economic challenges, the interim government is prioritizing coordinated aid efforts aimed at long-term recovery and resilience. (ILKHA)
