Afghanistan, Tatarstan sign $183 million in trade agreements

Afghanistan and Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan have signed a series of trade agreements valued at $183 million, marking a significant boost in bilateral economic cooperation between the two regions.
The agreements were formalized during high-level trade meetings between Afghan private sector representatives and Tatarstani officials. The sessions were attended by Nooruddin Azizi, Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, and Oleg Korubchenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan, alongside representatives of both regions' Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
During the meetings, Minister Azizi thanked the Russian Federation for recognizing the Islamic Emirate and underscored the strategic value of strengthening private sector collaboration. He invited Tatarstani investors to explore Afghanistan’s vast potential in sectors such as mining, agriculture, and the cultivation of medicinal plants.
In response, Deputy PM Korubchenko showcased Tatarstan’s diverse industrial capabilities, ranging from civilian and military production to technological innovation. He also invited the Afghan delegation to participate in an international oil exhibition scheduled to be held in Tatarstan on August 26.
The talks covered a broad spectrum of industries, including food production, helicopter manufacturing, water management, oil and gas, electrical appliances, detergents, sanitary products, building materials, and iron smelting.
Officials confirmed that the most substantial agreements focused on oil trade and construction materials, signaling long-term cooperation between the two economies.
This development is part of Afghanistan’s broader push to expand international trade partnerships and attract foreign investment under the Islamic Emirate’s new economic diplomacy. (ILKHA)
