The military wing of the Hamas movement, Al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility on Monday for launching a rocket salvo towards Kiryat Shmona, targeting the headquarters of the 769th Eastern Brigade, Jibour Camp, in northern occupied Palestine.
According to the Brigades, the operation was a response to what they termed as "israeli massacres" against Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
Earlier reports from southern Lebanon indicated gunfire towards the occupied Palestinian territories in the Upper al-Jalil area. Subsequently, a salvo of rockets was reportedly fired from Lebanon towards the al-Jalil Panhandle. The Israeli Iron Dome anti-air system was activated, but most of the rockets reportedly reached their targets.
Hebrew media outlets reported sirens sounding in several northern settlements after more than 30 rockets were launched from Lebanon, with explosions heard in the area.
Israeli authorities in Kiryat Shmona urged settlers to immediately seek shelter in fortified areas. (ILKHA)
