Al-Qassam Brigades release 10 israeli captives amidst extended Gaza truce

The military wing of Hamas, the Al-Qassam Brigades, handed over 10 israeli captives to the International Red Cross (ICRC) on Tuesday evening.
This action took place following the extension of the truce in the Gaza Strip for a fifth day.
As part of the reciprocal arrangement, the zionist regime is set to release 30 prisoners, whose names were disclosed by the Prisoners' Affairs Authority of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesman Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari confirmed on the social media platform X that a total of 30 Palestinian prisoners would be released on Tuesday in exchange for the liberation of 10 Israeli hostages from Gaza.
The group of hostages included nine women and a minor, and they were handed over to the ICRC alongside two Argentinians, an Austrian citizen, and a Philippine citizen.
Qatar, along with Egypt and the United States, played a crucial role in brokering the previous four-day ceasefire between Hamas and zionist regime, which commenced on Friday. In that initial truce, Hamas released 50 israeli captives in exchange for approximately 150 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails.
The extension of the truce for an additional two days was agreed upon on Monday, with a unique condition: the release of every additional 10 israeli captives would result in an additional day of truce in Gaza.
This ongoing negotiation underscores the delicate diplomatic efforts aimed at fostering a sustained and peaceful resolution to the conflict. (ILKHA)
