The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has issued a stern warning about the repercussions of the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh.
In a statement released today, the Brigades declared that the assassination will escalate the conflict to new dimensions and will have significant consequences for the entire region.
The statement criticized the "criminal Netanyahu" for pushing the occupying regime towards further destruction of Palestinian lands and expanding the scope of the war. It argued that the enemy's assessment of the situation, including the assassination of resistance leaders and violations of regional sovereignty, was a grave mistake.
Ismail Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed early Wednesday morning when their residence in Tehran was hit. The attack occurred as Haniyeh was in Iran for the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian.
The public relations office of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) confirmed the incident but stated that the reasons behind the attack are still under investigation. Details are expected to be released later. (ILKHA)
