Deadly landslides in Nepal claim 14 lives, 8 still missing

Heavy rains disrupt daily life across Nepal, leaving multiple families dead and others missing in landslides and floods.
14 people have died and 8 others remain missing in Nepal due to landslides triggered by incessant rainfall, authorities reported. The disaster has severely affected daily life in many parts of the country, obstructing highways and local roads.
According to Nepal Police spokesperson Binod Ghimire, different landslide incidents in Ilam district claimed 14 lives, while four people are still missing. In Rasuwa district, four trekkers remain missing following flood-related incidents.Ghimire noted that among the dead in Ilam, six belonged to the same family, while five others were from a different family.
The heavy rainfall, which began on Friday, has continued unabated, prompting authorities to impose a three-day ban on vehicular movement into and out of the Kathmandu Valley starting Saturday to ensure public safety.
Rescue and relief operations are ongoing, with local authorities urging residents to remain vigilant and avoid non-essential travel as they work to recover missing individuals and support affected families.“The incessant rains and resulting landslides have severely impacted communities, and we call on all residents to follow safety advisories,” Ghimire said.
