President Erdoğan arrives in Azerbaijan for 12th Turkic States Summit

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye arrived in the Azerbaijani city of Gabala on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, to participate in the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
The summit, held under the theme "Regional Peace and Security," brings together leaders from Turkic-speaking nations to discuss matters of mutual interest and cooperation.
Upon his arrival at Gabala International Airport, President Erdoğan was greeted by Azerbaijani Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, Gabala Governor Sabuhi Abdullayev, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Türkiye Rashad Mammadov, and Türkiye’s Ambassador to Baku Birol Akgün. A guard of honor was lined up to welcome the Turkish President.
The summit is expected to focus on enhancing regional cooperation, addressing security challenges, and strengthening the institutional framework of the OTS. Leaders from member states, including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan, are convening to deliberate on these critical issues.
During his visit, President Erdoğan is scheduled to attend the Council of Heads of State meeting and hold bilateral talks with fellow leaders to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments. His participation underscores Türkiye's commitment to fostering closer ties within the Turkic world and promoting collective efforts for peace and stability.
The OTS, comprising Turkic-speaking nations, serves as a platform for member states to collaborate on various fronts, including economic development, cultural exchange, and political cooperation.
