Death toll in Gaza soars to 57,882 amid Israeli onslaught

At least 59 Palestinians were killed and 208 others wounded in the past 24 hours as the Israeli occupation forces continue their unrelenting military onslaught against the Gaza Strip, according to medical sources.
The latest casualties bring the total death toll in Gaza to 57,882 since October 2023, with more than 138,095 injured, the vast majority being women and children.
The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that the number of Palestinians killed since Israel resumed its genocidal military campaign on March 18, following a brief two-month truce, has now reached 7,311, with an additional 26,045 wounded during this renewed phase of the aggression.
Emergency and civil defense teams say they are unable to retrieve many of the dead and wounded, as Israeli forces continue to target rescue operations, shelling ambulances, medics, and civil defense crews. Bodies remain trapped under rubble and scattered across the roads, further compounding the humanitarian disaster.
The situation in Gaza remains catastrophic, with entire neighborhoods flattened, hospitals overwhelmed or destroyed, and basic services collapsing under the weight of months of siege and bombardment. Health officials warn that the actual number of casualties is likely far higher than reported, due to inaccessible areas and the collapse of communications infrastructure in many parts of the Strip.
Despite mounting international outrage and a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, as well as binding orders from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) directing Israel to take all measures to prevent genocide and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, the Israeli assault shows no signs of abating.
Rights groups and observers continue to decry the systematic targeting of civilians and critical infrastructure in what they describe as one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in modern history. With tens of thousands dead, over a million displaced, and famine spreading, Gaza faces a man-made apocalypse while calls for justice and restraint remain unanswered.
The global community, particularly the United Nations, ICJ, and humanitarian agencies, have repeatedly condemned the scale of violence and urged an end to the siege, yet the Israeli military operations continue largely unchecked, raising urgent questions about accountability and the enforcement of international law.
