The southern Caucasus nation of Azerbaijan experienced a 5.6-magnitude earthquake on Thursday.
The seismic event occurred at 8:16 am (0416 GMT) with its epicenter reported to be in the Caspian Sea, according to a statement from the Azerbaijan Seismological Service Center.
The statement indicated that the earthquake transpired at a depth of 68 kilometers (42.3 miles). Residents in the capital, Baku, reported feeling the tremors as the seismic activity reached the city.
As of now, there is no information available regarding damage or casualties resulting from the earthquake.
