The United Nations has clarified that the upcoming third Doha meeting does not signify formal recognition of Afghanistan's interim government, despite engaging with its delegation led by Zabihullah Mujahid.

The meeting, hosted by Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, aims to ensure the interim government fulfills its commitments.

Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, emphasized in a press briefing that these engagements are essential to address Afghanistan's current leadership, without implying official recognition or legitimization of the Islamic Emirate.

DiCarlo highlighted the meeting's goal as integrating Afghanistan into the international community and upholding international commitments.

The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Zabihullah Mujahid's leadership of the interim government delegation for the third Doha meeting, scheduled to commence in Qatar on June 30. Representatives from over 30 countries and global institutions are expected to participate. (ILKHA)
