Erdoğan:The Gaza genocide exposes global failure

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has authored a significant article titled “A Shared Path to Peace and Justice”, published in both Chinese and English by People’s Daily, one of China’s most influential newspapers.
In his article, Erdoğan highlighted Türkiye’s principled foreign policy, rooted in building trust, maintaining dialogue, and pursuing fair solutions to crises. Reiterating his oft-stated message, he wrote: “There is no winner in a war, but there are no losers in a fair peace.”
The President underlined Türkiye’s concrete contributions to global peace and diplomacy, recalling initiatives such as the Black Sea Grain Deal, which enabled the delivery of essential food supplies during the Russia-Ukraine war, as well as peace negotiations hosted in Istanbul and Antalya. He also pointed to Türkiye’s crucial role in facilitating humanitarian corridors and overseeing prisoner exchanges amid the conflict.
Touching on the 25th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State, being held in Tianjin on August 31–September 1, Erdoğan stated that Türkiye would present its vision for a just and inclusive international order. He emphasized that relations between Türkiye and China—two heirs of ancient civilizations—would deepen further through a foundation of mutual trust and a win-win approach.
Erdoğan also used the article to address one of the most pressing humanitarian crises of today—the Israeli aggression in Gaza. He condemned the genocide and ongoing humanitarian catastrophe inflicted on the Palestinian people, stressing Türkiye’s unwavering stance: “Our world is currently experiencing more numerous and complex crises than at any other time in history. Unfortunately, the current international system falls short in addressing these crises and in safeguarding the rights of the innocent. The events unfolding in Gaza, including the brutality and genocide committed by Israel, stand as some of the most striking examples of this reality. Türkiye’s stance on Gaza is clear because human beings and human rights are at the centre of our politics.”
The Turkish President reaffirmed that his country would continue working tirelessly for the security of civilians in Gaza, ensuring uninterrupted humanitarian aid, and striving for a lasting ceasefire. He noted that Türkiye is simultaneously providing aid on the ground while mobilizing diplomacy to protect innocent lives and advance peace.
Erdoğan’s article comes at a time when Türkiye seeks to amplify its voice in shaping a fairer global order, positioning itself as a mediator in regional conflicts and as a defender of oppressed peoples, especially Palestinians enduring occupation and siege. (ILKHA)
