Flash floods kill one, injure three in Afghanistan’s Maidan Wardak province

Heavy rainfall triggered flash floods across multiple districts of Maidan Wardak province, resulting in one fatality and three injuries, local officials confirmed on Saturday.
The affected districts include Nerkh, Chak, Daimirdad, and Jaghatu, where the sudden deluge caused widespread destruction. Wahidullah Sarwari, spokesperson for the provincial governor, stated that dozens of residential homes were destroyed, while hundreds of acres of farmland and orchards sustained significant damage.
“The impact on local agriculture and housing is considerable,” Sarwari noted. “We are continuing to monitor the situation and provide support to the affected communities.”
Mawlavi Faizullah Jalali, head of the province’s Disaster Management Department, confirmed that the injured have been transferred to local health centers for medical care. Assessment teams have been deployed to the flood-hit areas to determine the full extent of the damage and coordinate relief efforts.
