Medical sources report that the death toll from Israeli artillery bombardment on the eastern areas of Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip, has risen to 27 people.
Dozens more have been injured, with the majority of the casualties being children and women, according to local reports.
The intense bombardment, carried out by Israeli warplanes, targeted eastern neighborhoods of Khan Younis following orders for immediate evacuation. Civilians were instructed to move towards the new area in Al-Mawasi to the west. However, local sources indicate that the occupation forces did not provide sufficient time for evacuation, resulting in heavy casualties and injuries.
Mass displacement from the eastern areas to the western regions, especially Al-Mawasi, has been observed as residents flee the ongoing violence.
In response to the escalating crisis, the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis issued an urgent appeal for blood donations to address the severe shortage of blood units. The statement highlighted the dire situation and the immediate need for donations to save the lives of the wounded and sick amidst the ongoing conflict.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate. About a week ago, the Israeli army conducted airstrikes in the Al-Mawasi area, previously considered safe, killing at least 90 civilians and injuring 300 others. These strikes targeted tents of displaced people, exacerbating the crisis.
Since the onset of Israeli aggression on Gaza in October last year, there have been 38,983 documented Palestinian fatalities, with an additional 89,727 individuals injured. Thousands more are believed to be trapped under rubble and in inaccessible areas, further complicating rescue efforts.
The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, as calls for humanitarian aid and cessation of Israeli genocide grow louder. (ILKHA)
