Gaza’s death toll surges to 67,869 since October 2023
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Monday morning that hospitals across the besieged Strip have received the bodies of at least 63 martyrs over the past 24 hours.
According to the ministry’s report, the relentless Israeli aggression — which has continued since October 7, 2023 — has now claimed the lives of 67,869 Palestinians, most of them women, children, and the elderly, while the total number of those injured has risen to 170,105.
Medical teams and civil defense units in Gaza continue to work tirelessly to recover the bodies of martyrs still trapped under the rubble of destroyed homes and buildings, many of which were targeted without prior warning.
Health officials have repeatedly warned that the ongoing siege and the systematic destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system have made it nearly impossible to treat the growing number of wounded. Hospitals are overwhelmed, lacking fuel, medicine, and equipment, while Israeli forces continue to target medical personnel and ambulances.
The ministry emphasized that the true number of martyrs is likely much higher, as thousands remain missing beneath the ruins of residential blocks, mosques, and shelters bombed in Israeli attacks.
Humanitarian organizations have condemned the continued Israeli bombardment, describing the situation in Gaza as a full-scale humanitarian catastrophe. Despite international appeals for a lasting ceasefire, Israel’s attacks on the besieged enclave have persisted, leaving Gaza’s already devastated population with no safe place to flee.
Observers note that this latest wave of casualties underscores the ongoing human cost of the war, as Gaza’s civilian population endures its twelfth month under siege, displacement, and destruction. (ILKHA)
