Global solidarity: Palestinians call for worldwide strike against Gaza genocide

Palestinian groups, forming a united front, have called for a global strike in solidarity with the Palestinian people, particularly those in the Gaza Strip, who have endured an Israeli war marked by genocide, displacement, and ethnic cleansing for the past 65 days.
The National and Islamic Forces, a coalition of major Palestinian factions, issued a press statement urging an inclusive global strike on Monday. The call encompasses all aspects of life as a powerful expression of solidarity with Palestinians facing unprecedented challenges. The statement emphasized the need for public demonstrations across Palestine and worldwide to oppose uprooting and displacement attempts.
The Forces underscored their commitment to the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people, asserting that it will continue until freedom, independence, and statehood are achieved. The global strike is part of a broad international movement resisting the open genocide in Gaza, ethnic cleansing, and colonial settlement in the West Bank.
The Forces expect global participation, urging people to unite against the injustice, murder, and racism perpetuated by the Israeli occupation. The strike aims to send a powerful message of solidarity with those affected by israel's organized terrorism and war crimes, particularly children, women, and the elderly.
Social media activists provided guidance on participation, suggesting actions such as refraining from buying anything, avoiding transactions, staying home, deactivating Facebook and Instagram accounts, and using the hashtag #StrikeForGaza.
Dr. Ramzy Baroud, a Palestinian journalist and author, highlighted the strike's purpose, emphasizing the importance of keeping Gaza and the immediate ceasefire calls at the forefront of the global agenda. He noted the significance of the strike as a visual expression of unity against the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the broader war launched by Israel.
As the international community grapples with the situation, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the israeli aggression on Gaza, ongoing since October 7, has resulted in 17,997 Palestinian deaths, including nearly 8,000 children and over 6,121 women, with 49,229 individuals wounded.
