Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh, accompanied by a senior Hamas delegation, met on Friday morning with Lebanese President Michel Aoun.
Haniyeh extended his congratulations to Aoun on the success of Lebanon's parliamentary elections, reaffirming the necessity of security and stability to prevail in the country.
The Hamas chief addressed the developments concerning Palestine, Jerusalem, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in addition to the repeated violations by the zionist occupation against Muslim and Christian holy sites.
Haniyeh pointed to the political changes that are taking place in the region and the attempts to make regional realignments through normalization, which require strengthening the Arab position in the face of such challenges.
During the meeting, Haniyeh discussed with Aoun Lebanon's Palestinian refugees, calling for improving their living conditions and granting them their humanitarian rights.
The top Hamas official reiterated his movement's commitment to the Palestinians' right of return and rejection of any proposal aimed at resettling and displacing Palestinian refugees.
The Lebanese president, in turn, welcomed the Hamas delegation, reaffirming his country's stances in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause. (ILKHA)
