Hamas denounces Israel for employing genocide as negotiation tactic

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas announced on Monday that it is working around the clock to address the deepening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, as the Israeli occupation continues its genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people.
In an official statement, Hamas reaffirmed that ending the siege, halting the famine, and stopping the aggression remain its top priorities during ongoing communications with mediators, regional governments, and international actors. The movement emphasized that its political and diplomatic efforts are being conducted with a sense of maximum urgency and national responsibility.
The statement strongly condemned the Israeli occupation’s continued mass killings and targeting of civilians, which Hamas described as part of a deliberate strategy to impose pressure on the Palestinian people and extract political concessions that Tel Aviv has failed to achieve at the negotiating table.
“The occupation’s tactics—bombing refugee camps, targeting women and children, and turning aid seekers into martyrs—are aimed at breaking the Palestinian will,” the statement said.
Hamas reaffirmed that it is engaging in negotiations with the utmost seriousness and in close coordination with Palestinian national factions and resistance forces. These consultations, the group said, aim to achieve a dignified agreement that would bring an end to the ongoing genocide, ensure the lifting of the siege, enable the reconstruction of Gaza, and secure a life of dignity and security for its residents.
The group made it clear that any agreement must fulfill the Palestinian people’s just demands and will not compromise their fundamental rights or resistance against occupation.
Amid these efforts, Qatar, Egypt, and the United States have reportedly submitted a revised ceasefire proposal to both Hamas and the Israeli occupation, according to details disclosed by Israeli Channel 12 on Wednesday.
The updated framework aims to revive the stalled negotiations and work toward a comprehensive agreement that includes a temporary truce, a prisoner-captive exchange, and a scaled-down Israeli military presence in the Gaza Strip.
The latest draft outlines a 60-day ceasefire during which Hamas would release 10 living Israeli captives and 18 bodies, in exchange for the release of a number of Palestinian detainees and the facilitation of increased humanitarian aid flows into Gaza.
While the overall structure of the exchange remains similar to earlier proposals, the new version includes minor revisions to the prisoner release formula. Previous drafts had called for the release of 125 Palestinians serving life sentences and 1,111 others arrested after the events of October 7.
An unnamed Israeli official quoted by Channel 12 stated that the updated terms are “not expected to derail the talks,” but acknowledged that the key point of contention now lies in finalizing the list of Palestinian detainees to be released.
One of the most significant developments in the proposal involves a shift in the Israeli occupation’s stance regarding its military deployment in southern Gaza. The previous demand to retain control of a 5-kilometer buffer zone north of the Philadelphi Corridor, near the Egyptian border, has reportedly been modified—an indication that the occupation may be softening its position under diplomatic pressure.
However, observers warn that continued Israeli escalation on the ground—including intensified bombing campaigns in Rafah and al-Shati and the targeting of displaced civilian populations—undermines the sincerity of its engagement in the truce negotiations.
As the situation in Gaza deteriorates, with thousands killed in recent weeks and entire families wiped out under the rubble, Hamas continues to urge the international community to intensify efforts to halt the genocide and lift the blockade, which has turned Gaza into an open-air prison and war zone.
With Gaza’s population suffering under unimaginable conditions—lack of food, clean water, medical care, and shelter—Hamas emphasized that justice, dignity, and freedom remain non-negotiable goals, and that the resistance will not compromise on the core demands of the Palestinian people. (ILKHA)
