Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has hailed the October 7 Al-Aqsa Storm Operation, claiming it revitalized the Palestinian cause and reaffirmed its position as a top priority both regionally and globally.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, excerpts of which were aired on Friday, Araghchi praised the Palestinian resistance, asserting that the operation in Gaza was a turning point that reinvigorated international support for Palestine. He described it as a symbolic victory that reshaped the discourse surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
During the interview, Araghchi reiterated Iran’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, stating that Tehran is prepared to offer assistance in Gaza following the conflict. He also congratulated Palestinian resistance forces on what he termed a victory, particularly highlighting the return of prisoners as a significant achievement.
“Iran stands firmly with the people of Gaza and remains ready to provide the necessary support to ease their suffering,” Araghchi stated, emphasizing Tehran’s continued backing of the Palestinian resistance.
Addressing regional issues, Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s stance on Syria, expressing full support for any government chosen by the Syrian people. He stressed Iran's commitment to preserving Syria’s stability and territorial integrity, noting that Tehran remains a key ally to Damascus amid ongoing regional challenges.
Iran has long positioned itself as a strategic partner of both Palestinian resistance movements and the Syrian government, viewing their struggles as interconnected within a broader regional geopolitical framework.
Araghchi’s statements come at a time of heightened regional tensions, with Iran’s support for Palestinian groups drawing increased scrutiny from Western and Israeli officials. His remarks also underscore Iran’s broader strategy of positioning itself as a leading advocate for Palestinian rights while maintaining strong alliances across the region.
As diplomatic efforts to stabilize the region continue, Iran’s role in Gaza and Syria remains a focal point of international discussions, particularly regarding its influence on resistance groups and regional power dynamics. (ILKHA)
