ISPR clarifies no Pakistani jets violated airspace as army destroys Indian posts in retaliation

Pakistan's military media wing, ISPR, confirmed on Monday that during last week's escalation, no Indian aircraft violated Pakistani airspace, and no Pakistani aircraft entered Indian airspace.
ISPR Director General Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry made the clarifications at a media briefing, underscoring Pakistan’s disciplined defensive posture in the face of Indian aggression.
“At no time were any Indian aircraft allowed to enter Pakistan’s airspace, nor did any of our aircraft cross into Indian territory,” Major General Chaudhry stated.
Decisive Response to Unprovoked Strikes
Chaudhry reiterated that the Pakistan Army responded robustly to what Islamabad described as a “blatant act of war” by New Delhi. Indian warplanes had earlier struck six Pakistani locations, including civilian areas in Pakistani-administered Kashmir, killing 26 civilians and wounding 46.
“India’s raid on our towns and villages is a clear violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty,” Chaudhry said. “Our air defenses engaged decisively, shooting down five Indian fighter jets, and our forces remain on high alert to defend every inch of Pakistani soil at all costs.”
Indian Checkposts and Brigade Headquarters Destroyed
The ISPR chief announced that Pakistan’s counterstrikes destroyed several Indian checkposts along the Line of Control (LoC), including the Chhatri, Jura, and Sarlia-1 outposts, as well as a brigade headquarters from which India had been violating the ceasefire.
“These operations were executed with precise targeting of military positions that had been used to launch unprovoked attacks on our territory,” he added.
Civilian Impact in Muzaffarabad
Local officials in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistani Kashmir, confirmed intensive Indian shelling and airstrikes against residential neighborhoods. A hillside mosque’s minaret collapsed under bombardment, and in Forward Kahuta district, mortars struck civilian homes, killing two men and injuring women and children.
National Leaders Demand International Condemnation
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the nation, emphasizing the defensive nature of Pakistan’s actions: “We have the sovereign right—and duty—to protect our people against aggression. We remain committed to peace but will not tolerate attacks on our citizens or soil.”
Pakistan has formally appealed to the UN Security Council to condemn India’s strikes and to uphold international law. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar called on the global community to:
“Recognize Pakistan’s restraint, demand an immediate cessation of hostilities, and press India to return to dialogue rather than resort to war.”
Regional Fallout and Stability
Following the air clashes, airspace closures disrupted commercial flights, with IndiGo, Air India, and Qatar Airways suspending operations. In response, Pakistan’s Punjab province declared a state of emergency, placing hospitals and emergency services on high alert. Despite the turmoil, Pakistan’s stock market remained stable, signaling investor confidence in the military’s effective defense measures.
Risk of Broader Conflict
Analysts warn that Wednesday’s escalation—codenamed “Operation Sindoor” by India—could spark a wider regional conflict unless both sides agree to de-escalate. Since 1947, India and Pakistan have fought three wars over Kashmir, with the last major air skirmish in 2019. Islamabad has reiterated its readiness for “meaningful dialogue”, provided India halts its attacks and withdraws its forces from Pakistani-administered territories. (ILKHA)
