Thousands join ‘Gaza Solidarity Day’ in Bitlis to support Palestinian struggle

A large-scale event titled “Gaza Solidarity Day” was organized in the Tatvan district of Türkiye’s eastern Bitlis province to raise awareness about the ongoing humanitarian tragedy unfolding in Gaza under Israeli occupation.
The gathering, led by various civil society organizations under the Bitlis Palestine Solidarity Platform, sent a resounding message of unity and support for the Palestinian people.
The event took place at the Tatvan Indoor Sports Hall and began with a solemn recitation of the Holy Quran. Children then took the stage to recite emotionally charged poems themed around Gaza, followed by powerful hymns and nasheeds performed by artists from Özlem Agency, creating an atmosphere of deep reflection and resistance.
One of the keynote speakers was Muharrem Güneş, President of the Bait al-Maqdis’ Pioneers Association and a survivor of the 2010 Israeli attack on the Mavi Marmara aid flotilla. Güneş underscored the importance of keeping the Palestinian cause alive in all areas of life. “The Palestinian issue is not something we remember occasionally—it must be part of our everyday lives, in schools, workplaces, and homes. The struggle must continue until victory is achieved,” he said.
Fırat Kıranşal, President of the Tatvan Education and Culture Association, condemned Israel’s two-year-long assault on Gaza as an act of genocide. “The Zionists are carrying out this massacre in full view of two billion Muslims. We will not remain silent in the face of this cruelty,” he declared, promising continued public mobilization through rallies, press statements, and awareness campaigns.
Expressing unwavering support for Palestinian resistance, Sinan Kıranşal, head of the Tatvan branch of Özgür Der, stated: “The Palestinian people, who bow only to Allah, will never submit to oppressors. Jerusalem will be free, and the tyrants will be held accountable.”
Mücahit Naser, President of the Tatvan Orphans' Association, noted the significance of such programmes in preserving societal awareness. “This cause must live everywhere. We hope these efforts foster greater unity among Muslims and pave the way for Gaza’s liberation,” he said.
The event concluded with heartfelt prayers for the Palestinian people and renewed calls for global solidarity. Participating organizations affirmed their commitment to standing with Gaza’s resistance and pledged to sustain advocacy activities until Palestine is free. (ILKHA)
